The Instructor
Amanda Dwyer-Scarlett grew up in Georgetown, Ontario, and has always loved all things musical. With a flair for the dramatic, Amanda grew up singing in choirs, performing in school plays, and competing in public speaking contests. In high school, she nurtured her love of music, playing saxophone in the school band and enrolling in drama and vocal classes. When she was sixteen she discovered music theatre and never looked back, performing in school musicals, The Sears Drama Festival, and taking home the silver medal in her category at The Kiwanis Music Festival. On weekends she drove to Hamilton for monologue and scene study classes at Theatre Aquarius. In her graduating year Amanda auditioned for various musical theatre programs, finally deciding on the highly competitive Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts "Triple Threat" program.
During her time at the college, Amanda took part in chorus, music theory, ballet, tap, jazz, improv, Shakespeare, and scene study classes, (to name a few). After an intensive and rewarding two years at Randolph, which included featured roles in the final two professional productions, Amanda graduated the program an official "triple threat". Upon leaving the school, Amanda auditioned and performed in various projects including the short film "Cornwall", and a workshop production of the new musical "King David" in Montreal. During this time she also discovered a new passion. . . teaching.
Amanda decided to join forces with a popular performing arts children's program, teaching after school classes at various elementary schools throughout Toronto. As well as teaching film, improvisation, scene study and occasionally hip hop, Amanda also developed and taught a musical theatre program. Buoyed by the success of the new program, Amanda has decided to bring her knowledge and passion for music theatre to the youth of Halton Hills, in the hope that they discover their own potential and passion for all things performing arts!
Amanda continues to remain a part of the acting world, and recently did some voice-over work for the Teletoon Network, stage shows with Globe, Calliope, and Meadowvale Music Theatre!
